Helping an insurance board govern AI investment and risk

// Introduction

The board of an insurance company needed to govern the company's use of AI with more confidence. Ewan and the team designed and delivered interactive half-day sessions on AI governance, algorithmic bias and cybersecurity governance.

01

Challenge

The board was responsible for overseeing the company's investment in AI, but directors lacked the knowledge to do this well. They needed to understand how algorithmic bias could affect customers and the business, and how AI changes the company's exposure to cybersecurity risk. Without that grounding, it was difficult for the board to question management's proposals or set clear policy.

02

What we did

The team created a set of interactive half-day sessions for the board. The sessions covered AI governance, algorithmic bias and cybersecurity governance. Each used case studies tailored to the business and set the discussion within the relevant regulatory context.

03

Outcome

The sessions equipped the board to set AI policy, challenge management decisions and govern AI risk with greater confidence.
