Preparing Gulf central bank supervisors to oversee AI in banking

IndustryCentral banks and regulators
ServiceExecutive education

// Introduction

Two Gulf central banks needed their senior executives to understand AI and FinTech well enough to supervise the institutions they regulate. Ewan and the team designed and delivered multi-day executive education programmes for both.

01

Challenge

Banks across the Gulf are adopting AI and working more closely with FinTech firms, and regulators are expected to understand the risks this brings. Senior executives at both central banks needed a working knowledge of the technology and of how banks are applying it. The aim was a level of understanding that would let them question institutions with confidence and shape supervisory policy, without requiring them to become practitioners.

02

What we did

The team designed a multi-day programme for senior executives at each regulator. The content covered generative AI fundamentals, AI use cases in banking, and the implications for leaders responsible for oversight.

03

Outcome

The programmes gave senior regulators a grounding they could use to lead AI governance, challenge the institutions they supervise, and contribute to supervisory policy while AI adoption in banking continues to change quickly.
